Making the College Admission Process in regards to You

Senior school me personally in Anything Goes

Greetings from sunny Southern California! My title is Jessica Frey (informally referred to as J Frey) and I am a Senior Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admission at USC. I spent my youth in Hollister, a tiny farm town in Northern Ca that has no affiliation whatsoever with the clothes store. I attended a large public school that is high over 3,000 students and somehow found my way to USC to learn theatre. My hope is that through sharing my own experiences, I will give you some advice and help you feel at ease whenever you approach the school admission process.

Many of you visitors is going to be signing up to college before you know it, and I also wish to make sure you know this really is going to be all about you. It may feel a little weird and selfish for anybody who are always placing other’s needs before yours. But in order for you really to make an informed university list and end up at a spot where you belong and feel happy, you do need to create the college search process exactly about yourself.

I don’t know about you, however when I was in senior school I made a lot of my decisions according to exactly what other people were doing and thinking. It’s cool to put on red pants now? Okay, maybe I will go get that pair I was eyeing at the mall weekend that is last. All the other children within my class are using to College XYZ? Maybe I should too. My therapist claims I’d be good at engineering since I like my calculus course? I wonder if I should affect engineering, even though I have NO IDEA what as an engineer is about. They certainly were all real thoughts I’d because well as many others throughout that anxious and stressful fall semester of senior year.

You let your own thoughts and ideas navigate your choices while it is very easy (and sometimes a good thing) for outside influences to shape your decisions, the college process should be one where. Listed below are three basic principles I do believe every senior high school student should keep in mind they are going to apply to college while they decide where:

Focus on facts rather than opinions. Many people form views about different universites and colleges, but you should really focus on your very own thoughts regarding the schools along with the information you find as you research the colleges that interest you. It’s important you are enthusiastic about a university because they provide a thing that you would like in your undergraduate experience- not just because other people you know are fans of the school, or because of its well-known reputation.

Reflect on that which you want in a college experience, and apply to schools appropriately. It is now time for you to think about what a college campus should have to enable one to be a happy and thriving pupil. Would you like to go to school in a large city or perhaps a rural university town? Do you want to study abroad in a country that is particular? What kind of activities do you wish to pursue not in the classroom? Would you like to have the ability to work closely with your professors? It has everything you’re looking for, add it to the list if you find https://casinopokies777.com/royalvegas-casino/ a school you’ve never heard of but! It doesn’t matter if nobody from your family or school ever knew about the faculty ahead of your breakthrough. Maybe it’s a place where you can expect to have an enjoyable college experience.

Enjoy the search process! The procedure of fabricating your college list can be quite a daunting task, but it is also an experience that is enjoyable. This is your opportunity to learn as much as you can about the many colleges that are amazing universities across the country. This can be your time for you to explore the array that is wide of and look closely at the colleges you’re considering.

I don’t write this web site to inform you should not listen to your parents, counselors, or peers. You might have wonderful resources at your disposal that offer great advice and insight. Counselors learn about a variety of colleges and may also manage to let you know more about the ones that meet your criteria. Your parents will be able to help determine which schools will financially be within reach. You just have to produce sure their advice also aligns with everything you want in an university experience.

That said, I did buy and totally rocked the pants that are red. We’ll admit that I used to a college I had no intention of attending simply to see if I could get in. I did get into the institution, but at the end of the day that did not matter. It didn’t make me feel better about myself also it was quite honestly a waste of time and cash. But i did so follow my heart and became a theater major as opposed to an engineer, and I’m therefore happy I did. More on that later on.
